Ecologically focused garden installation & maintenance
We specialize in native plants, pollinator gardens, and wildflower meadows.
Garden Design
We start with a consultation to find out what do you want to see in your new garden–specific plants, colors, categories, maintenance requirements, and height.
Next, we’ll make a plan/timeline for any needed prep work, finalizing a design and sourcing plants.
We’ll create a list of recommended plants based on growing conditions (sunlight/shade, moisture, height, deer activity, bloom season, and amount of desired maintenance)
Then, we will sketch a layout and send over the layout and our list of plant recommendations for you to review. Together, we will refine the design.
The morning of the installation, we will have one more brief meeting to review plant placements with you before beginning.
Garden Maintenance
Native Flora Landscaping offers routine maintenance for all types of gardens including:
Weeding
Trimming
Dividing and moving plants as needed
Brush removal and general tidying
Routine mulching
We create a personalized routine schedule based on your yard and garden’s needs (most clients receive maintenance every 4-6 weeks).
Once- or twice-yearly mulching is recommended for moisture retention, weed suppression, and a tidy appearance for most gardens. Native Flora uses a premium quality double ground hardwood mulch that is not dyed. This is an attractive, natural option that complements everything from delicate native plants to hardy shrubs in your garden.
New Garden Installation
Native Flora Landscaping does installations for all types of gardens including:
New garden beds (including prep work–chemical free lawn removal, soil amendment, mulching)
Plantings in existing garden beds (anything from foundation beds to wildflower meadows)
Non-invasive privacy hedges
Permeable walkways and small patios
French drains
Edging
We provide a thorough and customizable garden installation process including:

After the installation, we’ll provide a plan for maintenance + recommended watering and weeding schedule
Invasive Species Removal
We take an approach to invasive species removal that uses as little chemicals as possible. Most species can be removed in an entirely chemical-free way. Some species require a targeted “cut-and-paint” approach. We never use broad application of herbicides, and always work with you to create a plan that works for your unique property. Often this involves a long term control strategy which we space out over multiple visits to ensure the invasive species are minimized as much as possible.
Common invasive species in central NC that we can remove:
Japanese Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica)
Privet (Ligustrum)
Russian Olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia)
Bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus)
Wisteria (Wisteria sinensis and floribunda)
Kudzu (Pueraria)
English Ivy (Hedera helix)
Periwinkle (Vinca minor and major)
Japanese Stiltgrass (Microstegium vimineum)
